Decorative Purpose:
Flexable magnets. This type of magnets are used as signs, decorations, business cards, car magnets etc.

Holding Purpose:
Neodymium magnets. This type of magnets are among the strongest permanet magnets. Their small sizes and strong forces provide a very firm holding power. They are used to hold heavy objects.

Ceramic Magnets. This type of magents are weaker in magnetic strength than Neodymium, but they have a low cost. They are used to hold light weight objects.

Motors:
This is a very specific application. Please consult your engineer for what type of magnet to use.

Speaker:
Ceramic Magnets. This is the most commonly used material for speakers.

Neodymium magnets. This is used to build small but powerful speakers.
